Fijians craft so much by hand that it's only natural that I inherited the need to work with such a tactile medium. Making objects presents a combination of challenge and satisfaction for me, watching the idea being realized in a physical sense is totally absorbing. I strive for simplicity and a meditative presence in my contemporary porcelain forms. Inspiration is drawn from a variety of sources such as science fiction architecture and space itself. Currently the ocean and the nature of fluids generate the foundation for most of my forms. Chris James Ceramic Design creates a standard range of slipcast porcelain. We also offer a design and manufacturing service to individual specifications. |
