A one-day workshop with Christopher Sanders

Location: Box Hill Community Arts Centre, 470 Station Street, Box Hill VIC 3128

Date: Saturday, 20 November, 2010; 9.30am – 4.30pm

Workshop Outline: This is a practical workshop which will cover some basic principles and then move on to practical set ups. Chris will aim to demystify basic digital jargon and clarify which cameras are most suited to studio photo work and why. He will provide some very basic, inexpensive, but useable lighting set ups as well as those using hot lights and flash. Students will complete the workshop with a review of their images on screen.

Tutor information: Chris Sanders has been a practising ceramist and lecturer for many years and over the past decade has fed much of this experience into developing photographic skills for art and object documentation. He now runs his business Christopher Sanders Photography. Chris has degrees in history, ceramics and a Diploma in Photography; www.christophersanders.zenfolio.com

Workshop Fee: $150 per person (members of TACA $130)
The workshop will run when we have 8 participants enrolled; Maximum number: 12

Participants are required to bring their own camera and its handbook, a tripod (if you have one), paper and a pen. Please also bring a mug for coffee/tea and your lunch.
** Type of camera – this class is oriented towards using cameras which allow manual settings. Small ‘point and shoot’ cameras will not work very well. Some of the Panasonic and Canon small cameras with manual control options are useable. Workshop participants without this equipment can opt to share two cameras, which I will provide. Any DSLR or mid-compact camera (eg Canon G10-G11) will be ok. Bring along any lens or zoom up to 100mm.

Payment methods:
* Cheque (made out to The Australian Ceramics Association)
* Direct deposit (A/C: The Australian Ceramics Association; BSB 032298; A/C no. 760550)
* Credit card (Visa, Mastercard) over the phone/mail/fax
