CERAMIX: 14 MAY – 20 JUNE 2021; MANLY ART GALLERY & MUSEUM

A Manly Art Gallery & Museum and The Australian Ceramics Association partnership exhibition

An exhibition of new works by fourteen contemporary Australian ceramic artists and their creative collaborators working across a range of mediums.

By pairing ceramics with non-ceramics arts practices, CERAMIX presents the creative outcomes of their cross-disciplinary collaborations and dialogue, with a focus on experimentation and on the open possibilities of clay as a starting point for making work.

Curated by Sophia Cai, CERAMIX revels in experimental bodies of work that have emerged by pairing ceramics with the diverse art practices of textiles, painting, video, sculpture and sound. Central to the exhibition is the collaborative experience. The artists’ reflections on the process tell of challenges overcome, knowledge shared and exciting new directions. It seems sure that their personal relationships will continue to foster excellence and experimentation beyond the exhibition dates.
